Testimonial
"Greg has worked with River & Trail Outfitters for many years in the capacity of trip leader and trainer for our river tours, as well as in consulting with us on a variety of issues including staff training and management.

As a trip leader, Greg has excellent people skills. Our customers love him! He is capable of naturally acquiring the trust and cooperation of others through his skills and abilities as a river guide, as well as his talent of effectively
communicating information.

He is a born leader who makes any trip fun for all, while maintaining high
standards for safety and quality.  As a consultant, Greg is a veritable fountain of wisdom, knowledge, and ideas. Perhaps even more valuable is his ability to communicate these ideas along with practical suggestions to bring them to fruition.

I would recommend Greg in the capacity of guide, trainer, and consultant for any organization looking to improve their staffing and operations or who need help in defining their  particular culture or business environment.

He gives 100% to everything he does, and does it with integrity and heart."

About Greg

Greg Cronin, CCD is a speaker, trainer, and author with more than 25 years of management experience.  His extensive work in the areas of staff training and leadership development has been the basis for a series of articles published in the American Camp Association’s (ACA) Camping Magazine.  With such titles as "Teaching Health and Safety", "Day Camp Supervision Techniques", and "The ABCD’s of Staff Training", Greg provides step-by-step methods to help professional directors incorporate proven management techniques into daily routines.

New in 2007 are a series of books from ACA called “By the Experts Series.”     Published by Healthy Learning, each paperback contains a compilation of articles from past Camping Magazines which focus on a singular topic.  In the "Staff Training" book, Greg has two articles entitled "Are Counselor in Training (CIT) Programs Worth the Risk?" and "Mission Impossible-Staff Orientation at Warp Speed".  His critically acclaimed article "Creating a Leadership Team is Like Making a Cake" is featured in the Leadership Development book.  For a complete list of books and resources, please visit www.healthylearning.com

Greg lives in Falls Church, VA,  which is located just outside Washington, DC.  After graduating from Penn State University, he became a wilderness instructor at Southern Illinois University primarily working with at risk youth.  His organized camping career started in college with several years at a resident camp before becoming a day camp director for over two decades. While there, Greg fulfilled the requirements to achieve the designation Certified Camp Director.

His professional camp background on the state level includes 11 years as a member of the Chesapeake Section Board and 14 years as a member of the Virginia Section Board.  In addition to speaking at conferences and leading numerous trainings, Greg has held many positions on the board including Chairman of the Board Development Committee.

On the national level, Greg co-Chaired the 2002 ACA National Conference in Washington, DC. He has received national recognition for both his distinguished service and contributions to Camping Magazine. His article “Creating a Leadership Team is Like Making a Cake” received honorable mention for the prestigious Golden Quill Award.  Currently he is serving a three year term on ACA’s National Board.

Seeing the need for quality staff training in his own day camp program, Greg quickly developed a passion for quality teamwork and began to implement creative teaching techniques for both staff and supervisors. For more than twenty-five years he expanded on new training concepts and continues to teach quality staff development through proven management techniques, specific skills, and group dynamics.

Teambuilding is a extensive part of Greg’s staff and corporate training.  Using portable initiatives, he promotes experiential learning through carefully designed interactive play.  With over 25 years experience on high and low ropes courses, he can also lead programs which challenge every level of dynamic learning.

Greg has been a consultant and corporate staff trainer since the mid- 1980’s.  In addition to his on-site workshops with many local and national companies, he frequently appears at conferences as a key-note speaker or featured presenter.  He has trained staff from many different industries and has extensive experience in working with corporations, schools, for-profit and not-for-profit organizations, churches, outfitters, agencies, and associations.  His innovative workshops have been categorized as informative, fun, interactive, and refreshing.  He brings a unique energy to each organization along with an exceptional ability for working with people to reach a common purpose.

Greg is also a very accomplished Class V whitewater rafting guide with 30 years experience.  He actively guides more than 10 rivers and is a trip leader, kayaker, American Canoe Association Instructor, and guide trainer.  When not paddling, you can find Greg fishing local bass tournaments.  An avid angler, he fishes a challenging tournament schedule every year from April through November.
